THE licensing division of Newcastle City Council is eager to hear from DK, of Ponteland, and anybody else who believes they may have been overcharged or picked up illegally by a taxi driver.

There appear to be a number of breaches of law revealed in this letter.

We would like to get in touch with this person and if any Chronicle readers have similar experiences then get the plate number and registration number of the vehicle before contacting us.

The drivers are illegally plying for hire and overcharging.

DAVID O’BRIEN group manager, trading standards & licensing, (0191) 211 6160 or e-mail david.obrien@newcastle.gov.uk
