I make no secret about the fact that I am no fan of the Out of Town Hacks, the trade is disseminated enough without these interlopers. The public is now so confused about what a Taxi is or isn’t, prices are all over the place and not many of us are making the money we once were used to.
The demise of the out of town Hack is not a cure all but it is a step in the right direction. I don’t mean to gloat I just want them to go away quietly,I don’t want anyone to be out of work either. Let Private Hire be Private Hire and Hacks be Hacks, they both have a place in our industry and let’s get back to serving the public without confusing them.
A recent Comment from User: outoftownhack: “Here is an interesting quote from blueline taxis july monthly news letter it goes QUOTE We recommend that all out of townhackney carriage drivers start migrating over to North Tyneside there are various rumours floating around the trade about the future of such licences.Blueline have put together a disc that has most of the knowledge information on it for use on your home pc. Following the high court decision on November the 5th 2008 many councils are adopting a policy that they will predominantly work in the issuing licenced area. This would be very difficult for any council to enforce from a taxi licence prospective. When officers are asked the question DEFINE WHAT HOURS ARE PREDOMINANT they struggle to commit to a definitive answer. END QUOTE”
Then User: john comes back with a reply to this:
“@outoftownhack, Blue Line would be better telling them to migrate to Newcastle as thats where we PREDOMINANTLY work! all the lads with black cars a f*cked lol”

The last comment by john is typical of the attitudes that we as a trade are being pulled down by.The trade is: Bona fide Licensed Private Hire & Hackney Carriages. I have seen these attitudes for the best part of the last 25 years and they serve no purpose, they give the likes of ‘john’ a quick ‘LOL’ but very little else. The black cars will always be there as long as the Local authorities licence them and so will Private Hire but very soon now Berwick cars and others will be gone from our streets. I won’t ‘LOL’ like john I will just be happy that maybe the drivers who just want to make a living will be able to do so without the stress of all the rumours and all the ‘Not Taxis’ sitting on every street corner, again I’m not just talking Hacks here but these extra cars put a strain on Private Hire also. Even if Berwick drivers migrate to North Tyneside or Newcastle PH Plates at least everyone will be back to as near a level playing field as we can get.
In the next couple of weeks I will be publishing some interesting documents for you to read. When these are published, read them and take in what they say.Any documents posted here are important to all of you and instead of ‘LOL ing’ you should be taking care of one of the most important things in your life ‘Your Income’

I am a private hire driver with a Newcastle plate and while I would love to see the demise of out of town plates, I just don’t see it happening.
Even if all of these plates were banned from operating in Newcastle do you really think Newcastle council would pass up the oppertunity to make all that extra money?
They would greedily snap up all these drivers and “ensure” that they passed the locality test.
After all if it wasn’t for the greed of Private Hire offices we would never have had this problem in the first place and we all know that Newcastle council are just as greedy.
