Readers may remember the story of the guy who attacked and robbed a Taxi driver in Wallsend a few weeks ago and tried to escape from the Police by jumping into the river Tyne. Well a Runner from a Taxi has just proved himself a bigger fool.
This one attacked the Taxi Driver, in Barrasford street East Howdon and made off without paying the fare. The Police arrived and found the guy at his house.After gaining entry to the house to make further enquiries they discovered 39 Cannabis plants. He was arrested at the scene. Do you think he wishes he had paid his Taxi fare?

the police liason officers told lads on the ranks a while back that they would be getting a list of police numbers and stations and opening times, as well as a list of what we can charge up front and that we shouldnt take a phone off someone till we get paid at the other end.
this doesnt bother me, if my intuition says money up front, and they dont have any, then i am perfectly happy not to take them at all. the phone up front malakey just ends up being a headache, as 9 out of 10 want them back to phone someone on the way, further confirming that you are heading for a BUMP.
but perhaps the police could also include in this letter, where a driver stands if someone goes into there house and locks the door and turns the light off? where we stand if someone tries to get away, then fails and is taking to a police station, where we stand if some is sick, or spills food all over your seats, or even worse wets themself or goes number 2 in your car!
it would be nice to know where we stand as by the law, then have it in writing on a police letterhead to produce to any unco-operating police officers we meet along the way.
I’ll give you an example that happened recently, a lad picks a lady with food up, she immediately spills it over his back seat, chips, and gravy, literaly all over. the police are right there at his door, he shows them, and they say not our problem, nothing we can do! and then let the lady walk off down the street, with the driver at a total loss what to do.
now if newcastle council see fit to put a soiling charge on the tarriff card, is it legally enforsable? if not why not? and if so by who?

@andy warhol, iam a north tyneside hack and we have the soiling charge on our tarriff cards £80 a few years ago a lady was sick all over my back seat so i flashed a police car over only to be told that i would have to to take her to court 4 the money/ he would lift her if she refused to pay the fare but could not do nowt about the sick charge even when i showed him it on the tarriff card he said its a extra charge and he cant do nowt about it / all he done was give me her name and address

I picked a fare up from a house in heaton and took her to throckley she went in the house to get the money and didnt come out. I rang the law they came after 20 mins gained entry to the house and came out with 20 quid.
