Road Closure: Newcastle upon Tyne

From Wednesday 22/07/08, St.Andrews Street at its junction with Newgate Street will be closed to all traffic.  All traffic that enters St.Andrews Street will have to turn around in the turning head at the junction with Newgate Street and exit the area the way they entered.

Apparently McAlpine staff has spoken to a number of the taxi trade utilising the rank on the north side of St Andrews Street and they are quite happy with the proposals.

@Saint Germain, The reply was not unfounded it was founded on common sense, what would you do without this site?….you would ask those that represent you! And as for my Identity it’s no secret ‘Marvyn G. Fereday’
North Tyneside Hack. Anyone who didn’t know me was because they never asked. I still run this site but with no money left to run it I had to go to an outside sponsor, who incidentally has nothing whatsoever to do with the Licensed Taxi trade.
P.S. User:Saint Germain you are also User:Hackney Carriage Driver
So what is your agenda?
When a user comes here with a question and then the same user comes back with a different user name to back up the first user both of which are one and the same. Is this not a bit mischevious,is it a bid to stir up trouble within the trade and if so why?

Your reply to the fair and relevant points made by the previous hack driver was totally unfounded.

This is especially true with your comment about being ‘face to face’. This has long been a bone of contention among most of us with regards to your own identity.

We are aware that you keep all your relevant details and true identity well hidden to the ordinary drivers although you would be surprised to learn that you have just revealed it.

P.S.
None of us ever believed that just one driver ran this website, nevertheless we had to find out what your agenda was with regard to OUR trade.

Thanks for the info.

@Hackney Carriage Driver, Take your feet, walk up to any one of the Forum members, open your mouth and Ask! It’s easier than than sitting down at your PC and typing little childish messages. If there is any news from the ‘purported’ membership it will be posted here. That’s why there is a Newsletter each month,it has news in it. If you have issues with the Forum members Tell Them face to face.

Earth calling admin, come in admin…

Does anyone in your secretive circle have any contact with the Forum membership?

They are the Newcastle Hackney Carriage spokesmen/women are they not.

They had a meeting last week with the leader of the council and nothing has been reported to the drivers that they purport to represent. The trouble with the Forum seems to be an inability to maintain the same list of members from one month to the next.

The lads would like some feedback, bearing in mind some of the people on that Forum list haven’t even been elected by us.

This site now officially attracts emminent Lawyers and Psychiatrists. Looking for Dentists and Brain surgeons for the full package.

I am no psychiatrist but I am sure if Mr. Freud (the psychoanalyst, not the comedian) were to read some of your so-called words of wisdom he would ascertain that you were so far up your own a… that you would qualify as the penultimate ANAL RETENTIVE saddo who uses this website because he can’t get a life.

You take care Mr. Keeper.

really?

we have 2 signs at the top that say taxi pickup and dropoff only. waste of time. all down one side was private cars parked up again.

the traffic wardens are unable to do anything, as its the polices job to move these cars on for being on a closed road, they cannot ticket them, just have to catch them parking up so they can chase them!

2 no entry except taxis would have been bbetter, that would have allowed the traffic warden to hoy up tickets.

secondly,

the closesure of percy street junc. allows the concrete wagons to come into the site that way. fine if they all did this, but today, several times we have seen them come from both sides. which causes total caos, taxis left with no where to go, concrete vans trying to get down st andrew st with private cars on one side, and taxis on the other side, while another is parked blocking off the exit to percy street. and twice today when there was 3 or more the taxi had literally no where to go, even with passengers in, and these blockages didnt last a few minutes!

ohh and thanks to the guy who twice hit my mirror the day, another delivery guy, my fault though cause i’m a taxi driver! thats the way it goes.

so we have mickey mouse signs, taxis with a restricted exit (when they can), 1 car space on the rank lost (petty i know but 1 car can be the difference between going about your job and getting moved on!) private cars STILL parking down one side of at andrew street, was this little alteration to help the taxis? cause its done the opposite. Unless if as sold that ALL deliverys to the site come in the percy street junc way. as i pointed out to one guy the day, tough was basicly the answer …

… thats right the messages loud and clear, WE all know where the taxi trade stands on the ladder!

ohh, and where getting a blob of paint roundabout at the bottom of st andrew street, right outside the site entrance, and right beside a busy pedestrian crossing on the path! well what good is a round about when a 6 tonne concrete wagon is parked on it half the time?!

this problem would have been much easier solved by removing any bays on one side (not covering up parking bays so anyone can park there!) and double yellow lining it down one side, with a taxi rank marked out from the bottom upto william hill. allowing the taxi drivers to point out to anyone trying to park on the other side that they will be blocking the road.

i swear if i didnt know any better, all this has been set about to test the patience of the drivers!

oohh and do we have any legal eagles, a lad tells me he was moved off the path by the police, well today counting i lost count of the amount of scaffolding wagons, concrete wagons plus others reversing and driving up and down the same part of the path. this lad tells me the police said that they MIGHT have permission to park on a public footpath. Hmmm, from what i know law is law, no exceptions, so how come taxis will be prosecuted for parking on this same bit of path, yet a 6 tonne truck is able to do as it wishes. and surely if an officer is not sure, then the wagons should be either moved or prosecuted and evidence submitted to show otherwise. i suggested even going as far as doing a FOI request to see whether this is the case.

as once again it appears taxi trade is treated as second class citizens,,,
