The Newcastle Hackney Forum has written to both Newcastle Taxi Licensing and  Michael Craik, Chief Constable for Northumbria Police about the bad press being received by the Newcastle Taxi trade recently.

The NHF wrote to the Chief Constable to advise him that there are over 700 Hackney Carriages in Newcastle city centre which all provide a safe reliable means of getting home as well as many Private Hire companies.

The letter to Licensing was to advise them of the deplorable way in which the Newcastle Evening Chronicle Depicted Licenced Hackney carriages in its story entitled “Dodgy taxis driven off the roads in Newcastle” I did have a better story than this but had to withdraw it at the last minute, apologies.

Here is The Offending Headline with Accompanying Image:

Note From Admin: If this were a photo of a line of Blueline cars or any other large company there would be Stern Legal Letters to the Editor of The Evening Chronicle and quite rightly so. The image and the following article are very powerful and sends a very misleading message out to the Public.
