A taxi driver is in hospital after he was attacked by a gang of robbers in Slough in Berkshire.

He was punched and kicked and had his satellite navigation system, mobile phone and car keys stolen in the attack in Cardigan Close early on Sunday.

The man was taken to Wexham Park Hospital and later transferred to an eye specialist hospital in London where he remains in a stable condition.

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Det Insp Andy Shearwood said: “This was a particularly vicious robbery, however I would like to reassure residents there are ongoing inquiries.”

He said up to 10 women and men aged in their late teens took part in the attack and made off through a nearby trading estate.
