STOP PRESS… READ ALL ABOUT IT!
Sitting in my taxi on Tuesday and somebody knocks on the window. I roll the window down and instead of a passenger I get a load of political rhetoric from a Scouser of all people. Now I was happy to listen to him but by the same token, I thought he should have listened to me……
Comment of The WeeK
Unfortunately this is still just the tip of the iceberg and proves once again that there is very strong justification for proper enforcement on the ranks between the hours of 12.00 a.m. and 6.00 a.m.

It seems wires are getting crossed here! we just got a rambling comment from a Cramlington Hack,Northumberland plated I presume.

Berwick/Northumberland situation: Questions Answered
The Following questions and subsequent replies, by David Wilson, answers some questions about the Berwick situation.
can i just ask as to why we still have a number of berwick plated vehicles running around, some with expired dates, and some with no expiry date whatsoever.
why have these guys not got northumberland plates?
if they are appealing to keep there plates, who is dealing with them and when is there likely to be a verdict.
who are responsible for these berwick plates left now that berwick no longer exists?
are these the guys that David claims may live in berwick caravan park?

Pause for Thought By Dave Walls
Over the last few weeks, we have since the “Chocolate Liqueur Driver”
incident, the trade, both “Hail and Ride” and “Pre-Booked in Advance” have
united as one in condemnation……….
Wolverhampton retains current policy on new Hack plates.
The decision, as I understand it – subject to sight of the Minutes of the meeting but my client is the Chairman of the HC Association – was that the policy would remain unchanged i.e. that any application for an additional HC plate will only be accepted on the basis of presenting a brand new WCA type vehicle – the policy adopted in 2005.
Interpretations of Law
The argument you are advancing is that argued (unsuccessfully) by Berwick Borough Taxi Association (represented by the National Private Hire Association) in the Newcastle v Berwick High Court case last year.
Comment of The Week
It was a Toss up between Sietnav Eisnogud and Ollie Beak They both made me laugh but Ollie Beak cracked me up with this one:
@David Wilson, Eight thousand calls unanswered – we used to have that desk clerk.
The truth is that if his drivers got their ar**s out of the Big Market and the rest of the town, then all this ‘booked work’ would be covered and they could leave the Hackney Carriage jobs to the professional drivers.
You put Pinocchio to shame Mr. Wilson, you must be on a good retainer. Anyway his drivers are now going to be filmed so I am told and we will see who the liar is.
Who says there is not enough work?
Who says there is not enough work hack driver??? Is it not the case that the work is just not where you would like it to be!!Maybe the public’s way of using our trade has changed and you need to change with it? There are other ways to make money than sitting on ranks and maybe its time you need to face facts??
Two sides to a Fence, but how many Fences
Just because something is proposed in an eloquent manner, does not mean that it is undoubtedly correct.
Those that comment here in the best English that they can, and live daily with the frustrations that this trade inflicts on them, may sometimes seem antagonistic and abusive but the site is here to allow people to get things off their chest in a way they never would be able to do in a face to face way.
When the patter merchants come and make their……..
New Site is Sh*t !!!!
A professor of Taxi driving graced us with his presence today, using the comments system he proclaimed in one line of well thought out comment supremacy “Nah, the ‘new’ site is just sh*t”Who Guards The Guards?
The following is an excerpt from a comment posted on this site by Alan Fidler………………The real issue is that we are ‘policed’, in many instances, by frustrated policemen/women who have only a vague understanding of the LAWS they purport to enforce…………….
David Wilson. Ex Licensing Officer:Part II
I joined Berwick in June 2004. The first out-of-town hackneys were not licensed until October 2006, so hardly closely linked in time to my arrival. It was, however, very closely linked in time to another council refusing to licence Polish applicants, which was discriminatory and contrary to EU law. It was that fact that resulted in a number of private hire operators visiting every council for miles around, with the result that they then licensed drivers and vehicles with Berwick and Eden Valley councils…………….
